Biennale at MCA

I managed to get an evening peruse of The 18th Biennale of Sydney, all our relations, curated by, Catherine de Zegher and Gerald McMaster, at the MCA yesterday. Without even seeing the other venues yet, I can safely say it’s my favourite biennale to date. The textural and hand made is out in full force, and beautifully countered by a sense of fragility and fragmentation. Highlights for me were stained paper works by Liang Quan (at top). Get thee there. Off to Cockatoo Island this weekend. HF. Images, from top: Liang Quan, Yoshihiro Suda, Phaptawan Suwannakudt and David Aspden.
