Minerals & muslin: Valentino

Yes, yes, I’m totally behind the eight ball on the Valentino S/S 2012 campaign photographed by Deborah Turbeville , but I couldn’t not post them once I’d seen them. The shoot was held in Ciudad Porfirio Diaz Mineral de Pozo, Guanajuato Mexico, a former mining town that was abandoned in the early twentieth century, allowing its Jesuit buildings to disintegrate into beautiful vestiges. A perfect choice: the site’s mineral history is reflected in the glimmering neon and metallic embroidery and yet the ruinous, silent tone of the landscape is the perfect foil for the dresses’ intricate delicacy.  HF.

completely! I reckon we should be allowed to re-do the whole thing every year, with a whole new theme. I definitely would have worn the blush coloured lace dress from this collection if I got a do-over… x
