Helen Frankenthaler 1928-2011

Hello 2012. I thought it fitting to make the first post of the year a visual tribute to one of my most-admired artists, Helen Frankenthaler, who died on the 27th of last month. The images above are part of the Kenneth Tyler collection of prints, held at the National Gallery of Australia. I’ve always felt it’s one of the gallery’s collection strengths, and how lucky we are to have it. Frankenthaler’s prints, particularly the Tales of Genji series (at top) are favourites. What could be better than saturated, seeping colour to start the new year? HF.
