It began in Africa

Vogue Australia really missed a trick with their current Africa issue. Aside from a beautiful Dries dress, the choices and styling were so uninspiring, for such an inspiring continent! The whole thing seemed shallow and inauthentic. Why not incorporate  African stylists/designers/fashion & textile scene? And don’t get me started on the imposition of Isabel Lucas on the Masai and meerkats…

Here’s a taste of what could have been. From top: Suno, Doro Olowu, Bantu surfboards, Doro Olowu, Moroso furniture, Lalesso shoes, Liya Kebede in NY Times 2007, Loeffler Randle/Suno shoes.

  1. Suno and Doro Olowu are the masters at mixing prints – so perfect!
