Ascher London: art & industry

Ascher London. Looking through their vintage prints is like being back in a first year art history lecture. They commissioned designs from artists like Derain, Moore, Matisse, Sonia Delaunay and Calder. They also made textiles for Givenchy, Cardin and Mary Quant back. Last year they relaunched the brand with a series of new designs. Whilst very nice, I prefer pouring through the vintage ones.

I am always inspired by the meeting of art and industry, when executed with integrity. Brands like Ascher paved the way for  art/fashion/product collaborations over the last century. I think I’ll profile some others in the coming weeks…HF.
