Chrysanthemums and mauve lilies

Something unabashedly pretty for your Monday morning. Abigail Borg is a surface pattern designer from London – her range of fabrics and wallpapers seem inspired by the bold blooms in an English garden. I love their Art Nouveau graphic, hyper-lucidity. Top image is Mauve Lily fabric, followed by Mr Chrysanth.

Which, once again, reminds me of a book I’d like: Plants and Their Application to Ornament, first published in 1897 by Eugène Grasset (1841-1917). A book to wallow in. Art Nouveau /Arts and Crafts was all about filling your interiors with organic patterns of nature; essentially bringing the garden inside. A notion that has returned to us over the last decade…
